Carmen Derrick: Principal's Biography

Carmen Derrick

Carmen Derrick began her educational career in a neighboring DFW school district in 1999 as a bilingual teacher. Ms. Derrick spent eight years teaching within the district before accepting her first assistant principal position in the same district. She served as an AP for four years. Ms. Derrick was promoted and served as an elementary principal for four years. She then accepted a principal position in Dallas ISD and has served for three years at Maple Lawn Elementary and five years at Nancy Moseley Elementary.

This year marks her seventh year serving as principal at Nancy Moseley Elementary.

Her twenty five years of educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being for all her students. Her educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. All of which, the staff at Nancy Moseley possess.

Mr. Derrick has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Baylor University in 1999. She attended the University of Phoenix where she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2007.
